A new fitness venue is opening in Irmo in April. Kingfisher Strength will offer a resistance training environment for anyone motivated to improve their fitness and strength. The center is designed to appeal to both men and women interested in strengthening themselves both physically and mentally.
Kingfisher is the brainchild of Irmo native and current Chapin resident, Stephen Jerdan.
“The culture at Kingfisher is one of community,” said Jerdan. “Our goal is to help each individual that walks through our doors to become the best athlete and person they can be. We’re truly excited for this opportunity.”
Kingfisher offers its members a variety of options and programs including small group lessons, personal training sessions and classes designed specifically for women. The center is outfitted with Eleiko weights. And, while the focus is on barbell training, Kingfisher members will find targeted equipment to support a lifting program.
“My background is like most people who decide to better themselves – I decided I wanted to live stronger and healthier,” said Jerdan, a certified member of the International Sports Sciences Association and also serves as a US Coast Guard reservist. “The Kingfisher name came from my love of the water. The Kingfisher bird is native to the Lake Murray area and represents focus and strength, so the name seemed fitting.”
The public is invited to attend the open house for Kingfisher Strength and meet Stephen and his team on April 2, from 8 am – 2 pm. Kingfisher is at 1011 Rauch-Metz Road in Irmo.
