The S.C. High School League girls’ wrestling individual championships saw two Lake Murray-area athletes claim state titles.
Lexington’s Grace Beeson won the 120 lbs. division, while Swansea’s Aniya Ruiz took home the 235 lbs. championship.
Other notable performances included:
- River Bluff’s Sophia Voudouris (135 lbs.) and White Knoll’s Shayanna Shell (190 lbs.) earning runner-up finishes.
- River Bluff’s Amy Robinson (145 lbs.) and White Knoll’s Irie Edwards (190 lbs.) finishing in third place.
On the boys’ side, Pelion’s Landon Byrd secured the Class A/2A title at 113 lbs. after an 11-3 victory over Mid-Carolina’s Carson Burgess.
Other top finishes included:
Gilbert’s Jack Turner (113 lbs.), American Leadership Academy’s Dayton Daniel (126 lbs.), and Pelion’s Colin Williams (165 lbs.) placing third.
Lexington’s John Marcum (165 lbs.) and Mid-Carolina’s Ryker Woolstenhulme (144 lbs.) placing second.
