Before going on Spring Break, both the Lexington and White softball teams participated in the Swampfox Invitational at Ashley Ridge High School.
Lexington went 4-1 at the event, winning all three games in pool play last Friday.
The Lady Wildcats opened with a 10-2 win over Hanahan. Gracie Scott went 2-3 with 3 RBI, including the first of three home runs hit at the Invitational.
Emma Melinauskas also homered for Lexington and Maggie Hinz went 1-2 with 2 RBI.
Lexington went on to defeat Timberland (6-1) and Daniel (6-2) to complete a perfect showing in pool play. The next day saw the Lady Wildcats open against Midland Valley.
A 5-run second inning capped by a 2-run single by Scott gave Lexington a 5-2 lead. The Lady Vikings battled back to tie the game in the fourth before Scott and Hinz drove in runs on back-to-back doubles to put the Lady Wildcats up 7-5.
Midland Valley rallied with three runs, two coming off passed balls, in the top of the fifth to take the lead. Lexington loaded the bases with two outs in the bottom half of the fifth, but Scott flew out to end the game with an 8-7 loss.
The Lady Wildcats closed out the invitational in dramatic fashion against Dorman. They rallied twice to tie the game, then with a pinch runner on first base, Livi Warren belted a walk-off 2-run home run for the 10-9 victory.
White Knoll went 1-4 at the Invitational, the lone win coming against May River by an 8-4 score. Charlotte Bridges, Gracie Fisher and Hailey Murray all drove in three runs in the victory.
