Lexington repeats as competitive cheer champion

Lake Murray–area competitive cheer programs once again proved their statewide dominance as four schools brought home trophies from the S.C. High School League finals held Saturday at Colonial Life Arena.

In Class 5A Division I, Lexington captured its sixth state championship, posting a score of 329.5 to outpace Region 4-5A rivals River Bluff (315) and Dutch Fork (297.5). The title capped another banner season for the Lady Wildcats, who continue to be one of the most consistent and decorated programs in the state. River Bluff’s runner-up finish marked the program’s fifth time placing second, while Dutch Fork solidified its place in the state’s elite with a third-place finish.

In Class 4A, Gilbert earned a state runner-up finish behind champion A.C. Flora, while in Class 3A, Mid-Carolina also finished second to defending champion Chesnee. Both programs continued their upward trajectories this season, solidifying their status among the top contenders statewide.
