Local business collecting for community groups

Homestead Hospice & Palliative Care is holding a set of drop-off events to benefit community organizations December 16.

Stock a Pantry

Local homeless shelters and food pantries are in need of canned and non-perishable foods. Homestead will be collecting items for Harvest Hope FoodBank- Midlands to assist individuals and families in need. You will be able to drive up and drop off your donation without any contact.

SweetDreams

Homestead created its SweetDreams initiative to help comfort children in Women’s domestic violence shelters. Infants and children through age 12 will be provided a pair of new pajamas and a book. The community is asked to help with SweetDreams by donating new books and PJs (with tags on them showing they are new) for both boys and girls through age 12 years old. All donations will go to The YWCA of the Upper Lowlands, Inc.

Notes of Hope

To help the time go by faster for patients undergoing chemotherapy treatments, Homestead is collecting items to package and distribute to cancer patients. The community can help by donating new word search, crossword puzzles, sudoku and adult coloring books – as well as handwritten notes of comfort and hope. All donations will be packaged by Homestead with water bottles and lip balm and delivered to South Carolina Oncology Association. It’s a great opportunity to have students or church groups write these note of hope and inspiration.

All drop-offs will be held December 16 at the Homestead office, which has donation boxes in the lobby if you wish to drop off items please call a head and they will have someone meet you at the door.

The office is located at 7825 Broad River Rd., Suite 100, Irmo.
