Long time vacation rental business sold

Lake Murray Vacation Rentals has been sold to Vacasa, a full-service vacation rental management company based in the northwest. Lake Murray Vacation Rentals has operated short-term rentals/vacation homes along Lake Murray since it was founded in 2001 by owner Randy Walston.

“Vacasa’s proprietary technology platform, expanded booking channels and ability to increase exposure and income for homeowners is what made my decision,” says Walston. “I’m hoping that those who are currently self-managing through platforms like Airbnb, VBRO, etc., will consider listing their home with Vacasa.”

Vacasa specializes in marketing and booking expertise and partnerships with leading channels such as Airbnb, Booking.com, HomeAway and Expedia, to drive year-round bookings and increased revenue for homeowners.

Walston held discussions with Vacasa over the summer, with the deal officially closing November 30. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

“We’re satisfied we made the right choice not only for us but for all of Lake Murray,” Walston added. “We’ve been offering a variety of lakeside homes for folks to enjoy and the tradition will continue.”

Vacasa employees more than 2,500 employees, including nearly 400 in its Portland headquarters and 145 in its Boise office.
