Midlands Striper Club Hosts Successful Lake Murray Tournament

Dreher Island, S.C., May 29, 2024 – The Midlands Striper Club held its monthly Lake Murray tournament on May 18, launching from Dreher Island. Sixteen teams competed, bringing 28 striped bass to the scales with a total weight of 205.34 pounds, averaging 7.33 pounds per fish. Fourteen teams achieved a full two-fish creel.

First Place: Team Been Lure’d In, pictured above, captained by John Temple and Ty Taylor, took first place with a total weight of 17.83 pounds. They also won the Team Wildman Big Fish Award, sponsored by the Nichols Store, with a 9.73-pound striper and the TWT award.

Second Place: Team Rocky Bottom, led by Townsend Wessinger and Larry Martin, secured second place with a total weight of 17.07 pounds.

Third Place: Team Sea-n-Stripes, captained by Chip Bragg with team members Ryan Eubanks, Kendal Eubanks, and Hunter Bragg, finished third with a total weight of 16.35 pounds.

Special Awards:

  • Lady Angler Award: Amelia Keller from Team Knot Right.
  • Youth Angler Award: Kendal Eubanks and Hunter Bragg from Team Sea-n-Stripes.
  • Middle of the Pack: Fish N 4 A Weigh In with a total weight of 15.10 pounds.
  • Smallest Creel: Team Next Time with a total weight of 11.31 pounds.
