Lexington-Richland School District Five has named longtime administrator Danielle Major-Murphy the new principal of the Academy For Success.
Major-Murphy has served as assistant principal of instruction at Dutch Fork Middle School since 2017. Prior to that job, she served as assistant principal at Irmo Middle School and Newberry Middle School. She was approved for her new post during a school board meeting on June 24.
“I am honored to serve as the new principal of the Academy For Success,” Major-Murphy said. “Working with students and helping them overcome challenges to reach their full potential is a passion of mine, and this new role gives me an opportunity to do that. I also know that we have a great team at the Academy, and I can’t wait to put all of our resources and talents to work for student success.”
Major-Murphy has been an educator for nearly 20 years, starting her career in School District Five as a business education teacher at Chapin High School. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina. Major-Murphy also earned her master’s degree in educational leadership from USC in 2010 and an education specialist degree from Walden University, Baltimore, MD in 2011.
