Patrick Walters of Summerville once again showcased his prowess on the waters of Lake Murray, clinching another Bassmaster win with impressive skill and determination. Despite the challenges posed by severe weather, Walters demonstrated his mastery of the sport and emerged victorious in the Minn Kota Bassmaster Elite pro fishing tournament.
Originally scheduled to commence on Thursday, May 9, the tournament faced a postponement due to severe weather conditions. However, the series kicked off on Friday and continued through Monday, culminating in the final weigh-in at Dreher Island State Park. Throughout the tournament, Walters maintained his lead, showcasing his exceptional angling abilities and strategic prowess.
With a total weight exceeding 90 lbs. over the course of four days, Walters asserted his dominance and secured his position at the top of the leaderboard. Despite strong competition from rising stars like J.T. Thompkins, a rookie from South Carolina, and Trey McKinney, the youngest pro at just 19 years old, Walters remained unrivaled in his performance.
In addition to the thrilling fishing action, the event offered a range of entertainment and amenities for attendees. Attendees enjoyed a live concert by local country star Cody Webb and indulged in delicious fare from food trucks such as Big Boys BBQ, Cinnamon Hill Kitchen, and Sarah’s Rockin’ Kitchen at the Kid’s Corner.
Furthermore, the event featured prominent vendors from the fishing industry, including Bass University, Power-Pole, Garmin, and Yamaha, providing attendees with access to the latest gear and equipment. As the fifth stop of the season for the Bassmaster Elite Series, the event drew fishing enthusiasts and spectators alike, showcasing the vibrant fishing community of Lake Murray.
The tournament was proudly hosted by Capital City Lake Murray Country, reflecting the region’s commitment to promoting outdoor recreation and sporting excellence.
