Starting Monday, Jan. 29, multiple railroad crossings in Lexington County and across the Midlands will undergo maintenance and repairs. CSX Transportation has scheduled routine maintenance activities, which will commence in Richland County and progress northwest through Lexington County into Newberry County. The entire maintenance and repair operation is slated to be completed by March 8.
During the closure of a railroad crossing, residents can expect it to last at least three days, up to five days. For crossings that are one-way in/out with residents located behind them, CSX aims to complete the repairs within a 12-hour timeframe.
Complete closure of the railroad crossings is necessary to facilitate the repairs, meaning no traffic will be allowed to cross the tracks until the work is finished. To guide traffic around these closures, signage and detours will be in place.
