DREHER ISLAND, SC – The Midlands Striper Club took to Lake Murray on March 15 for their monthly tournament, proving once again that there’s nothing quite like a day of fishing.
With 24 teams competing, a total of 33 striped bass hit the scales, tipping the numbers at 262.38 pounds. That’s a lot of fish tacos! The average weight was 8.20 pounds.
Reeling in the Big Wins:

Finishing in first place with a total weight of 23.89 pounds was team Collision Course captained by Dylan Robbins along with Chase Paryear. They also won the Team Wildman Big Fish Award sponsored by The Nichols Store with a 14.96-pound striper which earned it the Sea-n-Stripes Live Release Award.

Finishing in second place also with a total weight of 21.08 pounds was team Gonna Fish captained by Charles Gatch along with Brian Barb and Campbell Barb.
Finishing in third place with a total weight of 18.47 was team Only Fins captained by Shawn Gearheart along with Daniel Sullivan and Grayson Sullivan.

Special Awards:
Lady Angler went to Liz Sineath from team Stone Age. Youth Angler went to Campbell Barb from team Gonna Fish.

The Middle of the Pack award with to team Hardcore with a total weight of 16.34. The Smallest creel went to team Catchall with a total weight of 11.85 pounds.
The TWT went to team Only Fins.

MSC Meeting: April 8 at 7 p.m. at The Flight Deck in Lexington—come for the fishing talk, stay for the food.
Next Tournament: April 19 at Dreher Island—where new fish tales will be born, and someone will inevitably lose a lure in a tree.
