From November 13 – December 12, the Midlands Gaming Coalition (MGC) will be holding its annual Toy Drive for MUSC’s Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital.
There will be drop off locations around Columbia including every McWhirter, Bellinger & Associates office, and The Side Deck in Lexington. Gamez Block is offering 10 percent off your purchase if you bring in toys to donate.
All locations are currently listed at CrumbleRumble.org. There will also be an e-sports tournament December 2 for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate from 10 am – 4 pm. Players are being asked to bring a toy to donate as an entry fee and the community can participate by dropping off toys at toy box locations.
“Our Board and gaming community are excited about this opportunity to spread joy to children during the giving season. We continue to choose MUSC for this toy drive because they saved our daughter’s life multiple times, and we know the impact of these gifts for the families that are there during the Christmas season,” said Andrew Coston, President of the Midlands Gaming Coalition.
“When children and teenagers must be hospitalized, the Child Life Department is there to ensure they have toys, games, and activities. Play is one way children can make sense of new and stressful events and environments. To meet the many interests, ages and needs, Child Life relies on community donors to stock its playrooms and provide a variety of toys for bedside play,” said Betsy McMillan, Child Life Director for MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital.
