Two Charged in Lexington County on Drug, Firearms Offenses

LEXINGTON COUNTY — A Lexington County man and woman were arrested following a traffic stop that led to multiple drug and weapons charges, according to the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department.

Jonathon Shockley, 26, was charged with:

  • Two counts of trafficking fentanyl

  • Two counts of possession with intent to distribute cocaine

  • One count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine

  • One count of possession with intent to distribute Schedule IV drugs

  • One count of possession of a weapon during a violent crime

Emily Gomez, 25, was charged with:

  • Trafficking fentanyl

  • Possession of a weapon during a violent crime

According to Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon, the arrests occurred during a traffic stop on Interstate 20 near mile marker 47.

“During the traffic stop, deputies found 166 grams of fentanyl and a handgun in the car,” Koon said.

Investigators with the Lexington County Multi-Agency Narcotics Enforcement Team later obtained a search warrant for Shockley’s home.

“Investigators found fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, scheduled prescription medications, marijuana and multiple bags of additional suspected opioids inside the home,” Koon said. “Investigators also seized more than $76,000 and multiple firearms.”

Both Shockley and Gomez have since been released from the Lexington County Detention Center after meeting the conditions of their bond.
