John Allen, a restaurateur and small business owner, has announced his bid in the Republican Primary for State House District 69 in central Lexington County.
“Our district deserves a true conservative representing them,” Allen said in his announcement. “I have never wavered in standing for conservative principles in our community and I am ready to bring that resolve to the statehouse. In Columbia, I will stand firmly against wasteful spending and out-of-control budgets. For too long, establishment Republicans have voted in lockstep with Democrats to pass massive budget increases that grow government instead of protecting taxpayers. A 44 percent increase in the state’s budget supported by our incumbent representative over the past ten years is unacceptable. Hard-working families deserve better.”
“I’m not a politician. I’m someone who understands the real challenges facing families and small businesses, because I’ve lived them. And I’m ready to be a strong, principled conservative voice for our community.”
Allen, owner of local eatery Momma Rabbit’s Nibbles and Sips, is a candidate in the June 9 Republican Primary and can be reached at johnallenforstatehouse.com.
