In a historic moment for the town of Lexington, Mayor Hazel Livingston was officially sworn in on December 4, making her the first female mayor in the town’s rich history. The swearing-in ceremony, held in the council chambers, also saw the induction of three council members.
Mayor Livingston brings a wealth of experience to her new role, having been a member of the Town Council since 1998 and serving as Mayor Pro-Tem since 2004. Expressing her excitement, she stated, “I’m thrilled to lead the Town in this new role and look forward to continuing to serve the people.” As Mayor, Livingston plans to collaborate with the Council to focus on responsible growth, improving traffic, and enhancing the overall quality of life for all citizens.
Joining Mayor Livingston in taking the oath of office were three council members. Todd Lyle, reelected to his position, has been serving since 2018. The two new members, Will Allen and Jeannie Michaels, were elected to four-year terms set to expire in November 2027.
Council members also appointed Ron Williams as Mayor Pro-Tem. Williams, who has been on the Council since his election in 2014, brings his experience and dedication to the role.
The swearing-in ceremony marks a significant moment in Lexington’s governance, reflecting both a historic milestone with the town’s first female mayor and a blend of seasoned and fresh perspectives among the council members.
