Hines runs to provide conservative servant leadership for Irmo and Chapin
Rebecca Blackburn Hines filed today to run in the June 14thRepublican primary to represent House District 85 in the South Carolina House of Representatives.
“Our community has been fortunate to have State Representative Chip Huggins advocating on behalf of Chapin and Irmo at the State House for the last 23 years. I am running to be your next State Representative to build upon Rep. Huggins’ legacy of supporting common-sense, conservative solutions. We need to send another strong servant leader to the General Assembly to help continue this important fight for our conservative values,” said Rebecca Blackburn Hines.
Hines currently serves on the Lexington-Richland School District Five Board of Trustees with a refreshing perspective and common-sense advocacy for parents. A former small business owner, Hines also previously served as the President/CEO of the Greater Chapin Chamber of Commerce and continues to advocate for small businesses in a state-wide capacity. Hines remains interested in business and community relations as an active member of the Rotary Club of Chapin Sunrise, the Greater Irmo Chamber of Commerce, the Lexington County Republican Party, and as a co-founder of the Lake Murray Republican Women.
“As your next State Representative, I will ensure that all parents are given more of a voice, more power, and more choices over their children’s educational future. Consequently, we must provide every South Carolina child with the best educational opportunities possible.”
“I’m proud to be a conservative with a record to prove it. I will fight to keep our taxes low and to fix our broken tax code so that small businesses can actually thrive, not just get by. I will hold the SCDOT accountable and ensure that our tax dollars are spent here at home to continually fix our roads and bridges. I will push for stronger government transparency and true ethics reform. And I will always fight for the right to life and to protect the Second Amendment,” concluded Hines.
Hines and her husband Derrick are the proud parents of two daughters, Harper and Molly. The Hines family attends Lake Murray Presbyterian Church.
