There has been an update to the Broad River Road Widening Project in Irmo funded by the Richland County Penny Tax. The project is still in the design phase and the original start date of late 2019 has been extended to October 2022.
Richland County staff are currently considering redesigning the project from a 5-lane widening to a 3-lane widening. The redesign may also affect the sidewalks and bike lanes that were in the original proposal presented to the Town in 2017.
