Led by Upper State individual champion Kelly Huang, the River Bluff girls’ golf team was competing Monday at the Class 5A state tournament in Little River.

The Lady Gators trailed Dorman by one stroke after Day One. Ironically, this was the same order of finish at the Upper State qualifier held Oct. 19 at Greer Golf Club.
Huang shot a 3-under 69 to claim medalist honors at the event.
Lexington finished in sixth place to qualify for the state tournament. The Lady Wildcats trailed by 12 strokes in third place after Monday.

Class 3A Lower State champion Gilbert was tied for ninth place after Day One at Diamondback Golf Club.

River Bluff vs. Lexington
The golf tournament was one of three girls’ sports events Monday pitting archrivals River Bluff and Lexington against each other.
Over in the gymnasium at The Swamp, the Lady Gators defeated Lexington in three sets (25-18, 25-10, 25-16) of the second round of the Class 5A Upper State playoffs. It was the third win this season by River Bluff over the Lady Wildcats and sent it to Dorman for the third round.

At the same time on the football field, the Lady Gators defeated Lexington 20-12 in the Midlands Flag football tournament. River Bluff finished in third place behind champion Lower Richland and Blythewood.
