Lexington-Richland School District Five has named veteran educator David Prigge, Sr. as its new Director of Career and Technical Education (CTE). The decision was approved at the district’s school board meeting on August 9.
Prigge currently serves as a CTE program coordinator in Richland School District One. He has also served as an instructor at the University of Phoenix, Midlands Technical College and Clemson University. Prigge replaces Dr. Al Gates, who retired in June.
“I am very eager to get started as the Career and Technical Education Director for School District Five of Lexington & Richland Counties,” Prigge said. “As the Career and Technical Education Director, I will cultivate student and parent engagement, business and industry involvement, and opportunities for student success in their chosen career fields. I will also do my best to develop and implement innovative and technologically advanced programs.”
Prigge has been an educator for more than 25 years, starting his career in Richland School District One. Prior to his career in education, Prigge served in the military for nearly 20 years. He earned her bachelor’s degree from Coker College and his master’s degree from Capella University.
“Mr. Prigge has a wealth of experience and knowledge in career and technical education,” Interim Superintendent Dr. Akil E. Ross, Sr. said. “I look forward to the realization of Mr. Prigge’s vision and future outcomes for all career and technical education students.”
