Lexington-Richland School District Five has named Amanda Taylor the new Director of Communications for the district. Taylor was approved for the new post during a school board meeting on August 9.
“I am thrilled and honored for the opportunity to serve as District Five’s Director of Communications,” Taylor said. “I look forward to creating positive relationships between the district and its families, the media, and the community.”
Taylor has served as the assistant chief counsel at the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) since 2003, where she supervises the SCDOT Claims Office and its staff and responds to media and Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests for damage claim information.
Taylor earned her bachelor of arts in English at Furman University. She earned her juris doctorate from the University of South Carolina.
“In our search for a new Director of Communications, we were looking for someone with legal experience and expertise to add to the skills of our communications team,” said Interim Superintendent Dr. Akil E. Ross, Sr. “I would like to welcome Mrs. Taylor to School District Five as we continue to innovate and lead.”
