DREHER ISLAND — The Midlands Striper Club held its annual Lake Murray Youth Tournament on July 19, drawing young anglers from across the Midlands for a fun and competitive day on the water.
Sixteen kids participated in this family-friendly event, weighing in a total of 30 striped bass for a combined weight of 127.29 pounds—an impressive 4.25-pound average per fish. All 14 anglers who competed were able to bring a full two-fish creel to the scales, a sign of both skill and a productive day on Lake Murray.
10 and Under Division
- 1st Place – Gage Davis, 13.33 lbs
- 2nd Place – Grace Schumpert, 12.56 lbs
- 3rd Place – Kimber Taylor, 10.42 lbs
Boys Big Fish: Gage Davis – 6.45 lbs
Girls Big Fish: Grace Schumpert – 6.42 lbs

11 and Older Division
- 1st Place – Annelise Temple, 12.58 lbs
- 2nd Place – Graham Flynn, 11.05 lbs
- 3rd Place – Khyler Morris, 9.05 lbs
Boys Big Fish: Graham Flynn – 9.59 lbs
Girls Big Fish: Annelise Temple – 7.21 lbs

Mr. Ed Fatcat Award went to Luke Power for his enthusiasm and sportsmanship.

The Midlands Striper Club (MSC) is a family-focused fishing organization committed to conservation and sharing a love for the outdoors with future generations. Their next monthly meeting will be held on August 12, 2025, at the Flight Deck in Lexington. Doors open at 6:00 p.m., and the meeting begins at 7:00 p.m.
The club’s next tournament is scheduled for August 16 at Clark’s Hill/Dorn.
